CA-Core+ Alignment

The Polaris FHIR Specification is intended to align with Canada Health Infoway’s CA-Core+ specification.

Polaris considers and aligns to the most recent version of CA-Core+available at the time of specification authorship (currently v0.3.0, as of October 2024). If a newer version is released during development, it will not be incorporated into that cycle. Instead, changes will be reviewed and adopted in future Polaris specifications and associated development efforts as appropriate.

The Continuous Integration build of CA-Core (an evolving target) will be monitored as resources allow, to consider changes. Once a new draft or public release is made, we will work to transition our standards to that release, and future development based on Polaris specs will consider these specification changes.

This policy ensures that external specification updates do not delay or disrupt in-progress Polaris development. In cases where alignment with a specific FHIR version is required by an external stakeholder, accommodations may be made at the implementation level. However, such exceptions do not alter the core Polaris specification.
